Hoola Hoop Catching
Aim: This game improves receiving. A hoola hoop is used instead of a glove. This helps the progress of young players to use an object (glove) to receive the ball.
Equipment:
• Hoola hoop
• Basket ball
Set up:
1. No set up needed.
Procedure:
1. A player/ coach/ parent throws the basket ball towards the player holding the hoola hoop.
2. The player holding the hoola hoop, with two hands, attempts to catch the basket ball using the hoola hoop.
Rules:
1. Players are awarded one point for successfully receiving the ball.
Progression:
1. Replace the hoola hoop and basket ball with a smaller object. Example: baseball and hat/ bucket.
